The Paralandra 45

The Paralandra 45
Althought I wasn't around for it, the Paralandra 45 project represented a real achivement back then. It was pretty cool the guys pulled it off.

About These Pictures

These pictures were taken in the mid-seventies when the progressive rock band "Paralandra" was just starting to write a flurry of original music.

In the beginning we wanted to be the next hot "Avant-garde" ensemble in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Thanks to the influences of Genesis, King Crimson, Yes and E.L.P. that all changed.

Old Advert for singer
The pickens were pretty slim for choices for a singer but we were also very fussy. Also most musicians were into Pop Rock or Disco back then in Nova Scotia.

One of the few reviews we got in the local paper. We preformed a free concert for our school. Someone though it would be a great laugh if they pulled the fire alarm half way though it.

Yes there was hope - we were into our own trip - we didn't expect that anyone even noticed us

  • Our singer Glen Wright worked with this band after he quit Paralandra. I wonder how many songs they did in 7/8?
  • We got to be part of Nova Scotia music history
